Certified Independent Material testing Laboratories
Precision Geosynthetic Laboratories (PGL) was founded in July 1984 as independent geosynthetic testing laboratory specializing in conformance, seam and compatibility testing of geosynthetic clay liner (GCL), geomembrane, geotextile, geocomposite, geonet, geogrid and plastic pipes. PGL performs testing for various erosion control products and interface shear testing. PGL also offers Manufacturing Quality Assurance (MQA) In-plant sampling services in all major geosynthetics production plants in the U.S. and abroad including: France, Canada, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and China. PGL is independent of any facility owner, manufacturer, contractor, installer, CQA and engineering/consulting firm.
In 1989, a larger facility was purchased in Orange, CA to accommodate the company’s growth in environmental testing. However, after five years, the Environmental Division was sold in order to concentrate in .geosynthetics testing which became the company’s core business of expertise.
In 1999, a satellite testing laboratory was added in Kennesaw, GA to cater the clients at the Eastern Time Zone region. This laboratory later moved to Houston, Texas in year 2003, which is adequately equipped to perform full geomembrane conformance, seam tests and In-Plant sampling at GSE, Houston.
In 1995 the Geosynthetic Accreditation Institute (GAI) certified PGL to undertake more than 95 varieties of tests. The GAI accreditation is technically oriented which operates within the ISO Guide 17025 coverage. Following this, in 1999 the City of Los Angeles awarded Precision Geosynthetic Laboratories a certification to perform various geosynthetics testing. A year after, owing to PGL’s commitment for total quality management, the company embarked on to ISO 9001-2000 Certification which was successfully achieved through Perry Johnson Registrars.
