How long have you been in business?
HBIC was founded in 1967, receiving our 501(c)3 status in 1974.
What is your primary product or service?
We provide programs for individuals with multiple disabilities. The programs are a non-public (not private) day school program, an adult day program, and an inclusive summer camp.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
One of my parents was involved with special education for more than 30 years. I have more than 20 years in the field. My AA in General Education, BA in Physical Education, and MA in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Management.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We work with a very challenging population; challenging both physically and mentally. Our staff know that they are expected to endure more than other programs would in the ways of physical aggression and change.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have two locations. Our main facility in in La Habra and our second is in Whittier. Current plans are to expand the La Habra facility to allow for program growth.
Provide detailed directions to your location
Our La Habra facility is just two blocks north of Whittier Blvd. on Euclid St. From the 57 freeway exit LAMBERT and head west to Euclid. Head north on Euclid for approximately 2 miles. We are on the left side; look for the grassy knoll and flag pole.
What type of payments do you accept?
Day School and Adult Program are billed through school districts and regional centers. Camp HBIC accepts cash, checks, AMEX, Discover, Visa and MC.
Which areas do you service?
Orange County, Southeast LA County and portions of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
As a non-profit, HBIC is governed by a Board of Directors. Day to day operations are overseen by an Executive Director and an Administration team.
What are your hours of operation?
M-F 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
